I didnt get the HD receiver, I need to save up some more change and do it the proper way with a slimline and a hr21.
So im getting a directv DVR for now.
1. Is there any channels on 110 or 119 that are sd?
2. I have one coax going to my current receiver, the way my house is set up, i can only have that coax. What is the cheapest way to split the signal into 2 so i can use my DVR.
3. With two tunners, can i tape 2 shows while watching live tv or only tape 1 show and watch live tv?
4. What will the usb ports be used for?
5. Is the r15 upgradable?
6. Can this do VOD like the new r16?

2.You cannot "Split" a sat signal before it gets to the rec.

3. Once you get the second coax to your rec. you will be able to record 2 shows at once or watch one and record another.
With only a single coax you will be able to record one channel and be unable to watch something else from the D* rec unless it's something that you have already recorded.
So you CAN record something and watch something that you have previously recorded (hopefully thats clearer)

4. USB ports are not used for anything I am aware of at this time.

Para Todos (Hispanic) JadeWorld (Chinese) and few other select packs.. also some local markets

There isn't, you cant split a D* signal because of the voltages that needs to be passed. Each lines must be a homerun source. A Multiswitch can handle expanding 2 or 4 lines into multiple but must use the main lines (2 for SD, 4 for HD) as an input before they go to a receiver. If you get a SWMLine 3 or 5 you only need 1 line for DVR's R16 and above. Generally D* will supply the SWMline when upgrading to a HDDVR.

3. With two tunners, can i tape 2 shows while watching live tv or only tape 1 show and watch live tv?

You can digitally record to the internal Hard Drive 2 Shows and 1 On Demand and watch something previously recorded or record 1 show and watch another. With 2 lines or a SWM setup with 1 line.

4. What will the usb ports be used for?

ATM just the AM21 off air tuner afaik

5. Is the r15 upgradable?

Depends on your definition. Some have swapped for bigger HDD's (Not D* Supported) but thats about it aside from Beta and National Release software. I suppose with some creativity you could color the casing, add fans etc like someone modding a Computer case.

6. Can this do VOD like the new r16?

AFAIK only HDDVR's and the R22 can do VOD
