I've seen a bunch of posts asking and saying they could not split one dish signal to more than 2 receivers that is not true. I have a dish and dtv setup that is capable of 40 receivers per 2 lnb dish. If someone can help me upload a pic i can explain better. plus I saw some posts of people showing off their systems and I wanna play too. but remember I just moved in here and am still finishing the house.

Are you saying you can do it WITHOUT switches? I don't think anyone is saying you can't hook up more than two receivers.

To upload a pick, you use the Attachments link on the Posting page.

thankyou for letting me know how to upload

I've seen posts of people explaining there systems and that so I thought Id share mine. And thanks again Iceburg for the help today with aiming this is the first time I tryed to incorporate dish into my home. now Im not done with the house or the wiring just getting started but thought Id share my fun communications room. lets see who can be the first to explain the system as it sits just for fun (Im not calling any on stupid or anything) But I got told to have a professional install my dish today.

Like I said, no one claims there is a limit of 2 receivers when you're using switches. There are many posts regarding cascading of switches. I would have to say that this is absurdly ridiculous and wildly unnecessary since DISH is never going activate that many receivers.

No but it is a six bedroom house. and Im an electronics junkie I can never have enough. My wife used to get pissed but then I put her 17 lcd in the kitchen and she doesn't have to worry if the kids change the channel in the living room

Well since i have a business in the house they can set up a corporate account thats how my dtv is. And sorry for the confusion I didn't see any posts about switches mabe I didn't look enough to make an educated guess at that but i saw some saying no it couldn't.

You could have done that with just two switches. Regardless of whether you are an electronics junkie, you have overkill by a factor of more than 6.

You're actually going to say that you need 40 receivers in your home/home business? I don't think so.

I didnt but I could. You still have to think there is always the garage to be wired yet too

Who cares if it's overkill? Why today I just put a spigot in my garage with Hot/Cold soft water and cold hard water. :)

meat, it looks as if you did ICFs for your walls. Did you go to the peaks with that or just the basement? Which brand did you use? Did you fill them yourself? I just love ICFs :)

I had them done just for the basement then 2x6 for the upper level thanks for noticing. And seeing my point on nothing is overkill you can always have more.

Overkill?

First thing I would like to say is great pic meat321. I thought I was the only one with a setup like that. As for the overkill statement it is never overkill when it is your own money and time. I have about a total of 5 miles of cable ran throughout out my house ie(coax,cat3,cat5 and fiber) yet I live in a four bedroom house is that overkill. I also have 9 dish receivers on a corp account and they all get used. The more wire the better I still need to add more for the garage out back.

I too am somewhat guilty of overkill and proud of it. I'm always looking for ways to expand my setup (must now plug my Home Theater page). However, I am the only one who lives at my house. :)

This site solely to blame for getting me hooked on the HT/AV hobby. :D

I love the sys tem tuxcoder. I knew I couldnt be the only one out here with almost enough to be happy. I'll have to get pics of my home theater today

Just a FYI: If people where discussing a Legacy Dish Twin LNB setup, (which was widely deployed), that equipment was limited to just 2 receivers without exception. But as you have found with Dish Pro and other switches, they can support up to 12 receivers. Anymore than that and you are performing black magic. (stay away with your evil)

And that's a great picture of your wiring. Very clean job. If only I could begin to figure out what I'm looking at there... I understand multiswitches, but that's just too much for me to take in at once. :)

lets start left to right. thats a spaun sbk 5500nf amplified stackable switch (with capabilities of 100 receivers) that runs dtv, then the power, hd whole house distribution, and another stackable spaun sbk 5500nf for the dish network 500 system. The little 4 way switches are the spaun smk 5541's. I only have 3 receivers hooked up on the dtv (one is a tivo), and 2 so far on the dish network. Thanks for the wiring compliment but I still think I have a mess going on so I have to label and re string the rg6. I still have to get the cat 5 box open and start running that and the phone distribution has to get put up yet.

Actually, using DP-Splitters, you can operate up to 24 tuners with DP equipment (using 6 DP-34 switches). With DPP, you can have up to 48 tuners (using 6 DPP-44 switches).
