190k, 130k who knows the real truth. Bottom line is Transformers SHOULD sell more than Spidey 3 it's a better movie. Has nothing to do with which is the better format. The only test is when a GREAT movie is released on both such as 300. And we all know who won that contest. I think this holiday season will either bring the playing field even or Blu will go way ahead.
Working at a unamed electronics store let's just call it The City (cough cough) I've seen dozens of people sit open mouth drooling in front of the Blu Ray demo playing on our new 56 inch Sony not believing how clean the picture is. It really is the prettiest thing I've ever seen. Chicken little looks 3D. But those same people will get up and after seeing how expensive BR players are, walk right over to the Toshiba display (on a 40 inch in the back of the store lol) that looks 'Good' but not mind blowing, proceed to pick up the $200 player and walk up to the register.
WHY?? From the people I spoke with they don't want to make a large investment in either format until the war is over. BUT they do want to be able to watch HD movies in the mean time the cheapest way possible. That hurts BR but not as much as HD DVD thinks it does. HD won't sell more 360 add ons and stand alones than Sony sells PS3's. So even though most casual home theater enthusiasts might not think Blu is worth the premium their are enough PS3 owners to always tip the balance toward Blu. Keep in mind the hundreds of thousands of PS2 users who have yet to jump over to 3. You don't think they are going to buy a 360 do you? With the price drop you will see MANY more PS3/Blu Ray player owners come early 08.
At the end of the day that is why I think Blu will win but only time will tell.
