I was told by someone at Speed via email, they would not be up in Hd till 1st week of speedweeks in feb.

People were saying the same type of thing when Sci-Fi went up on HD, they have an e-mail from their PR department saying there was no plans at all for a HD channel. Guess a lot of these companies have the same problem as man others, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Of course I went over to a friends house to watch it last night, his service provider does not have Speed HD.

Maybe there are testing ....
Or running ahead of time to tweak things .....
This is the smart thing to do in my opinion, lite it up without any fan fair and tweak it in time for Speedweek.
