Sound Problems

I have a Sony 40' Bravia LCD HD tv, and got DirecTV service last week. Later that day, I noticed that only on the Network channels (CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX) the sound gets very tinny, almost robotic for about 30 seconds. It starts off very low, and then builds to a very loud robotic sound, and then abruptly stops.

We had a tech come out and try to fix it, and he was clueless. So, he ordered a new HD DVR and it came in today.

Also, when I DVR a show, it doesn't get this tinney sound when watching it.
Or, if I am watching a live show, and pause it once the sound starts, it stops the sound.

Do you think the new reciever/DVR will solve the problem?

You'd probably have to describe your A/V setup in more detail if you want the most meaningful answers, also providing what measures you took to attempt to remedy it yourself (such as changing cables or using a different input, etc) would help alot, btw, welcome to SatGuys.
