Yes, I have had the same type of trouble , not constant , but it's there none the less.
I am using my HR20-700 and get some pixalation and audio drop outs every few minutes or so.
Interestingly enough, it appears on ONLY D* delivered HD channels, my OTA work fine and the SD channels are fine.
This is in mpeg 2 format as I have no mpeg4 to work with yet.

IF I do a reset, the HD channel I am currently on will work flawlessly, until I change a channel, then the next HD channel will pixalate and if I go back to the original HD channel it will also have the problems.

Any suggestions guys ????
I have done reboots and also reset the "Reset Everything" no help.
May have to result in calling D* soon.

You mentioned your A/V rec., is it happening thru the A/V rec., how about when you run just thru the TV without the A/V rec., does it still do it that way ?

Hey Thanks, to everyone for their input, I did some troubleshooting and came to find out that I had a bad OPITCAL CABLE.

Thanks Again
