What do yeaaa all think of this receiver at $499????
Now we have the Coolsat,Pansat 9000D and now the sonicview vc8000.
It seems by reading the Sonicview Sv8000 that it has BlindSacn....
Just wonder what yeaaa good people think........JT

I have a sonicview 8000 and in my opinion its the best fta receiver on the market today, and its worth every cent you pay for it. Also, if you shop around, you can get the SV-8000 for anywhere between $460 and $470, which includes HEMI cable, memory stick and free shipping.

P.S. I have also tested coolsat 8000 HD and captiveworks 3000 HD.

Ive got the SV8000 and Im not the happiest camper, its getting sold as soon as the fortec passion comes out (as long as fortec lives up to its claims)

its got serious heat issues and UI problems.

I'm with Brother Anole. if a box costs more than 100.00, its overpriced. I'd be willing to bet any one of those HD boxes doesn't cost more than 25.00 to build in quanitity. After getting hosed with this Sonicview 4000, I am DONE with high priced boxes. :(

Does the receiver have blind scan functionality and if so how is it compared to other receivers?

No, it does not state anywhere in the specs for it that it has Blindscan.
Currently, there are not that many FTA HD receivers out to compare it to.
Feature wise, it does have PVR abilities (although incomplete) which may
or may not be important to you.
But, without Blindscan and a few other features, that the Fortec Passion is
"supposed" to have, I would pass on it, unless you find one for a good price.
(and don't mind using buggy software with it)
grusome

the blindscan on this ird (menu accually sais blindscan) isnt blindscan or if it is its so poorly implimented its not of much use.

half the time it doesnt find the tp, the other half the time it finds the tp but cant find any channels on it.

What yea all think of the pansat 9000hd?
I thought if anybody should have blindscan(pansat should?}
I thinks its a tad more easy if you have blindscan then not.......
At least blindscan will pickup everything instead of having to screw around
and finding stations without blindscan...JT

Supposedly no blind scan on the Pansat 9000, which puts it out of the running for me.

If I want HD and don't need blindscanning capability, I'll use my Twinhan or Nexus PC cards :)

I would hope that the New Coolsat 8100HD will have Blindscan since the 8000HD has it I would think????JT
