HERE TO HELP YOU!
Hey Installers do some Receivers give you more problems finding Satellites than others?... I have noticed that my 501 and its predecessor seem to be more finicky finding 110/119 than my 6000u was or my 2700 ( I have taken them all camping...)I have yet to try my replacement for the 6000u the 811 and will never take my 921 as it has not given me problems and I don't want to tempt fate.:) ...

Yes some legacy and some dishpro receivers are slow on the uptake when it comes to registering a signal, most will show it within the first 2 - 4 seconds while others will take 5 - 8 seconds. One thing Ive seen that works with this problem is to do a smart card reset with a power cord reset to clear out the gremlins, you can also try doing a software update and epg update before you take it out camping with you if its been sitting packed away for a long time ( usually 4 months or greater ).

Camping in the woods...I can see you all sitting around the campfire now... watching your satelite TV. ;)
Where's a good cartoonist when you need one?

Seriously, I know it's easier with the TV right there as opposed in the house, but a $10-20 satellite meter makes short work of finding and fine tuning that dish.
Once you've used one (with a real meter, no LEDs!), you'll know why I keep harping on them.
But do put the receiver on the set-up screen so it's not hunting and changing voltages on you.

I prefer the simple ole SatBuddy beeper (toner), but to each their own.

I can appreciate if you have your hands full and your attention focused elsewhere, but I use two meters and need to see them both peak at the same place in the sky.
(Yea, that's a real hand-full, too )
