Some questions about the OpenBox s10

you wouldnt need a cable. After you download the file
Unzip the file and load it onto a USB thumby drive
plug thumby drive into receiver
in the menus there is an option to download software from drive

I've never used one of these drives before, so I'm unfamiliar with them. So I did some searching..will the following then work?

I always save my current software and channels before loading a new one. Hope this helps.

Exactly how is the saving accomplished? I'm pretty sure I'll figure all of this stuff out in no time, but in the meantime I don't want to make any mistakes that might render the STB useless.

I'm on my way to RS to pick up one of these USB sticks, so one last question.

In the Manual 'Upgrade by USB'...Open Upgrade By USB menu According to menu >Tools>Upgrade By USB...this is the menu I want to use, correct? If so, it says something about renaming FW to all.abs, is that the correct procedure?

I think I got it pretty much figured out after this, but just want to make sure I do things right the first time around.

yes you use upgrade by USB. I've never renamed the files when I had the S9. I just left it as is (as long as it has a .abs extension thats fine)

Thanks guys for all the help. Everything went smoothly with the FW upgrade. The blindscan is working like it should now. I think I have this box pretty much figured out now.
