Solar Tsunami to Strike Earth Tuesday Night

Just a heads up guys.
I am Just outside of Roanoke VA and have been watching the sky for the past couple of hours.

So far we haven't seen the beautiful stuff they show on discovery channel, but we have seen some neat things.
Like a greenish blue wisp moving across the sky.
High upper level atmospheric flashes.
and we got to see one faint, illuminated wave head from north to south across the entire horizon.
So far its not spectacular but it is interesting if you have never seen stuff like this.
Hopefully it will get a little more intense.

It is amazing that people ignore the fact that the earth has been through several drastic changes throughout her existence, much greater than anything we have seen or will see during human existence (even changes during human existence has been greater than anything over the last few decades), and we jump on any minor event as a sign that the world is ending.

Earthquakes have always happened and there have been times where they have occurred at a much greater frequency and much larger than anything we have seen recently. We know more about events now, and even randomness will create periods of great activity and periods of no activity.

Solar storms have always occurred, some even greater. We just know about them now because we can see them and have things that are actually effected by them. They were never an issue 100+ years ago, nor did we even know they existed.

The world is not going to end in 2012.

The earth has had periods of complete freezing, and it is still around
The earth has has been struck by huge meteorites, and it is still around
The earth has been through periods of great seismic and volcanic activity, and it is still around
The earth has had great climatic changes, much greater than anything we have witnessed, and it is still around.
The earth has had pole shifts occur several times, and it is still around

Nothing will happen in 2012 that will come close to what the earth has already experienced.

FINALLY someone with a bit of information and sense!!

Tho, tbh, I think we will see some serious wireless disruptions soon from this solar upsurge... it will be funny to see some of the text/cellphone addicts start slapping up veins in an attempt to reconnect to their addictions. ;)

As for the reality... yes, we'll see disruptions, and some of the poorly-designed stuff will fail. Some things will be nigh-catastrophic, some not; mostly, we'll fix it and learn the lesson... at least I hope.

Global warming isn't... it's just part of a larger cycle we don't understand, the hype is generated by people who make money off feeding our fears.

I wish we'd just be sensible and clean up after ourselves, and try to be decent about things... but I'm afraid humans aren't that decent. :(

Anyway, welcome to my nice first post! I hope most of mine are NOT like this one! ;)

Well.. I live in Pennsylvania and haven't had a signal in over an hour now. Not sure if it's the Solar Tsunami for sure but there are no storms or rain here.

Actually I believe the massive solar storm back in the mid 1800's greatly disrupted the telegraph system. More importantly, a similar storm, if it hit while not having a substantial affect on Earth itself, our civilization would have a ton of problems as it would have the potential to blot out a ton of our electronic devices. And when that day comes, I will openly welcome our new giant ant overlords. Hail Ants!

Quite correct. 1859, the most powerful recorded solar storm in history.

Another one in 1989 knocked out power in parts of Canada, and a later one the same year also damaged silicon chips that shut down Canadian stock trading.

If anyone can explain it to me.... after last night, Why is my cellphone still working?????
Because the atmosphere protects everything on the ground from most all space radiation. Your cell phone definitely does not communicate directly to a satellite, and I believe (though I don't know) that cell phone towers are interconnected via microwave relay or fiber, both of which are also ground-based.

+1

You are correct.
