For purposes of aiming a dish, as the sun will be where the Sat. is, how can I figure when the best day for aiming will be?

I would just use the DishPointer.com » Satellite Dish Pointer / Alignment Calculator with Google Maps site to see where you need point the dish at. All you need to do is play a little with the elevation but the elevation is also given in that site.

Thanks for that info. What I like to do is show my neighbors where the Sats. are located, because we live in a forest and these people think their dish is aimed right at trees, when in fact the sats is well over the tops of the trees.
