I have a new (boxed) Hopper that I got a ways back, but have never opened or activated. I know that once I get it connected and activated, it takes a few nights for all the updates to push. Whilst I'm waiting for my new duo node, could I connect the new hopper to my home lan, and if necessary the 3rd output from my LNB for updates?
I should have the new node in a few more days, but anything that speeds up the ready to use ( esp. Netflix) will be helpful.

Your 'new' Hopper will be mostly usable from day one. I wouldn't concern myself with any early stuff just to beat a day or two's updates....

I think the updates only come from (2) satellite locations, so you'd have to make sure you connect to the right LNB. On the western arc, it's the 119' satellite. Not sure about eastern arc though.

I'm on the eastern arc with satellites 61.5 and 72.7 and the tech said my updates come from the 72.7
