Software glitches

I have quite a few and none have been fixed.
1. Can't set more than about 30 some timers
2. Interactive weather doesn't work. ea408
3. Can't delete regular programmin, with the green arrow in the corner, have to start another show, stop it, and then delete old show
4. Can not add some local stations to my favorite list, just won't show up in the guide
5. The fast forward sometimes feels retarded, it sticks, thinks and then jumps forward.
6. PTAT does not always have the comercial skip available
7. It downloads while I am watching a recorded show, shouldn't it do that automatically when the device is not in use for a couple hours?
8. Sound skips on some recorded shows, not often but once in a while.
9. Dish sent me a new hopper because of some of these issues and they knew it was software issues, new hopper same as old, but then again I like to reprogram shows and favorites and lose all my recordings.

What surprised me that they would release the hopper with so many issues. Why is it taking so long for the fixes. When I decided to upgrade to hopper I was told you could record 6 show at one time, not exactly, it's only with PTAT and two additional shows. I was also told I could have 96 timers, no way is that true. They need to be more honest about the glitches. I bet the sales people never mention that some of these features don't work. My reasoning for upgrading was I wanted these new features. I think hopper is a great tuner but I want the fixes.

I'm not having problems with timers. I have over 65 set . I think if you use seek & record timers ,instead of traditional timers set from the guide, it will limit how many events you can record. As far as local channels in my favorites guide , I have no problems with any of them sticking in my guide. And my guide stays on that favorite guide, until I change it. As far as PTAT and having the autohop feature, no news programs have them at all . Also no sports programs have them. I do see sometimes the program not delete if I am watching it when I try to delete it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

And my guide stays on that favorite guide, until I change it.
That's odd, as the defaulting to My Channels is by the deliberate design of Dish engineers.

Are you sure you aren't confusing your Hopper and Joey behavior? The Joey stays on whatever guide you last used. (Which renders Dish's logic for defaulting to My Channels on the Hopper moot.)

No, I am using my hopper and it is set on Movies -a favorite guide I created. I don't have favorites set on my joeys.

Your Hopper stays on your favorites even after a reboot? None of mine do... Always back to "My Channels" after a reboot. It will stay on the favorites until a reboot though.

Also consider yourself lucky if you don't have problems adding locals. Every other week a different local channel disappears from a favorites list. When I try to add it back it won't and rebooting doesn't fix it either.

Both of these things have been going on for quite a while now.

I don't know about after a reboot. I just checked and my guide is still set on Movie guide from two days ago . I haven't done any reboots yet. I will check and see after tonight's ptat is over.

When I've decided to record a bunch of movies on a premium channel free preview weekend I have twice maxed out timers at 96. So the Hopper is capable of this. I'd imagine that the OP has timers for shows that repeat often and is hitting the event limit.

Yes and now that they added the event limit counter to the Daily Schedule you can at least see if you are hitting the 576-event limit. Just make sure to check the counter with skipped events unhidden. Thank you Dish for adding the counter back to the Hopper, now can you add all the other features that the ViP 722 series has that you took away? Manual timers, recording deletion history, password protect recordings, etc. ...

It appears that the Hopper channel limit per personal Guide is 50 and for the Joey 30.
If I edit and add more than these limits to a named guide it drops any over the 50 / 30 limit.
So I have to choose a channel I like less and delete it to get under these personal named Guide channel limits
to add one I want more.
I realize I could have more named Guides, but all I really want is one Guide of the channels I watch.
Does anyone know if Dish has a software update in the works to increase the Guide Limit on the Hopper and Joey that didn't exist on the older receivers?

It sounds like you have another Hopper bug. I haven't seen this observation before on this forum. I have one "Guide" with 152 channels +/- one local which it likes to drop a few times a week. You should PM a DIRT member about this.

I have one favorites list (what you're calling a "personal Guide") on a Hopper with 155 channels.

You know Dish should have never let this this thing out of the door people all went "I want I want I want" so they gave now, all they do is complain about the same things which I'm sure dish is working on and trying to get the other parts turned on. I bet 95% of dish customers do not have the problems we do, we are just in "power user" category.

I also have the issue with a local channel deleting from a favourites list. Normally it's MundoFox, which I never watch anyway, but I like to see all my channels in the guide (you never know what's going to pop up in reruns somewhere). However this morning it dropped CBS, this afternoon MyNetwork, and this evening PBS. I have had up to 397 channels in my guide and thought the number was the problem, but now I'm down to 389 and it still happens.
