Softbank Mulling Sprint / DISH Combo

Towers are a thing of the past? When, in 10 years? 20? No one is going to be tearing down the tower in my back yard any time soon. I see satellite TV going belly up before all the cell phone towers come down. Sounds great in theory, but in practice, something like that takes a lot of time. They don't even forsee end of life for legacy 3G until 2021 at the earliest.
I know of two towers in my area going up. One, a mini, the other taller by about 40-50'

the numbers at which they erect them has dropped below 10/year, nationwide - per carrier. Either the tower company leases space on existing towers to a cellco to place their antennas, or they try to use microwave backhaul to erect a mini-macro, DAS, and in some cases, COW. Depends on if temp or perm solution.

It's a sad situation when facts that can be backed with proof are not preferred over lies that are spread simply because "I don't like company X just because, and you MUST dislike them too for that same reason"
Great...you don't like Sprint. That is blatantly obvious. And not accepting facts is apparently just par for the course.
But not everyone has to agree with you and jump on your "I hate Sprint" bandwagon just because you want them to feel the same way. Feel free to continue bashing them, though. My stock keeps growing and making money for me.

No, you just don't listen, and refuse any counter argument. Your facts still not have addressed the fact that they have been pushed from 3rd largest to 4th simply because their service is nowhere near as great as their competition. But your stock, so that must be the only right answer.

You can repeat their new slogan, "works for me," all you want, but "works for me" also means "might not work for you." In other words, they are basically acknowledging that they are lackluster in many areas.

To be honest, every time I hear the former Verizon guy say "works for me," I laugh hysterically. It's like he is saying, "we suck and we know it, but we're a discount carrier and that's good enough for a lot of people." BUT, it's not good enough or even desirable in a merger with Dish. I think that's what we are trying to argue.

I have seen places that Sprint is lacking and needs major work in order to meet just bare minimum service requirements. And some places where I don't have any native coverage.. But they are very few. Where I live and play is an area of 2500 people or less..and that includes neighboring areas I travel aside from the main little town that is a population of 15,000.
Sprint has LTE and is currently being seen doing work nearby.

The facts can't address that, because if you would look into the "there are 3rd" ...."they are 4th" ..then you would see that those numbers and ranking come from figures that are over a year old. If those numbers meant anything, as in what's going on right this minute, and going forward, then that would be a different story...
So what, they are in 4th place...
That just means they have a couple million less subs than Tmo...which is still struggling to hit 70mil.
It's in no way a sign of their current and future upgrade status or what they've done to their network in the past 6 months...
Actually that number means absolutely jack...
It doesn't equate to the current operational status of the Sprint network, at all. It equates solely to how many people wanted to get out of their expensive device to get a new device...which is what all carriers are doing now. It's a promo fight for whoever can offer the best deal and rob customers from the other 3.

And some places where I don't have any native coverage.. But they are very few.

Once again, "works for you." In Georgia. That's great. Ever travel up Highway 69 in Kansas? Or the remote backroads in Western Missouri? How about Northern Oklahoma? You just keep repeating the same mantra over and over. They should fire the former Verizon guy and hire you. #SprintFanBoy

Those numbers don't mean jack? It means that another company was able to take subs away from them, and they were not able to get those subs back. Aka America agreeing that the service sucks. I'm happy it works for you, however you are not in the majority, as the numbers do show. Verizon is the majority. ATT is next, followed by TMobile. Those numbers mean a whole lot.

Again very happy it works for you, but the service still sucks, is still not in line with the competition, and has had multiple regional managers take that side rather than yours. They enjoy their job, however even they can recognize that the service is subpar.

In your earlier assessment, you claim I said all. No, I said a few regional managers, that manage a large portion of the country combined. I will take their opinion over your very bid opinion. That is the part you are missing.

Make your money on their stock. Have fun with that. It still does not change the fact that their service is subpar to the majority of the country, CURRENTLY, and their sub numbers reflect that.

Whatever. I keep saying they work, you keep saying they don't. Obviously, they are still in business, even after Moffett said they would be bankrupt in 2015...that didn't happen either.
While you're insisting they aren't doing anything to upgrade their network, the maps in the sponsor area of S4GRU show otherwise. 40,000 towers and 30,000 mini-macros have been put into service since 2013...so apparently they are doing something.
At least I'm not making personal references and calling people trolls because they actually know a little about what's happened in the network (aside from just being a customer).

Never said they weren't doing anything to improve their service. I said that their service sucks. Which it does.

Interesting article. First time Sprint turned a profit in 3 years, and is largely due to layoffs and cost cutting measures. Very interesting.

I'd like to see it as sustainable, let's see if they do it again.

Also, your remarkable ability to try and change what was said and steer the argument in your favor is why you were called a troll.

Eh, whatever. Providing any factual information that counters the "they suck in every city, in every state, across the USA" garners that type of response -- gotcha.
