My Azbox Ultra arrived over the weekend. I was actually out of town when it arrived as I was out working myself doing an uplink gig. I hooked it up tonight and I have to say I'm impressed. I had to hook the unit up to Composite to get the unit to swap over from PAL to NTSC HDMI, using native resolution. I poked around in the menus, and I have to say, the menus are not as hard to figure where things are at, as some people people here have said. I was able to quickly figure things out and was quickly blind scanning AMC3.

I was able to lock in all of the Arabic channels (globcast) channels on AMC 3 KU without a hitch, and even found the TNA's feed (encrypted)

So far the only thing that I dont like is the fact that C and KU are mashed to the same bird, I need to seperate them so that way I have a Gal 17 KU and a Gal 17 C, so that way I can use Diseq 1.2 on Cband and retain my ability to do USALS on KU. If anyone knows of a quick way I can rebuild birds and Channel lists, or has a channel list they can share, let me know!

Bugs, I haven't seen any, but I did upgrade the software to the highest that was in the menu.

Also one thing that struck me was how small the actual box is. I'm quite impressed! Final question about this box, when you do a blind scan, does it scan for both s2 and s transponders?

Thanks :)

Thanks, that's probably why it takes a bit longer to scan! This thing is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Better than what my pansat 9200HD ever was! I'm kicking myself in the arce for not switching sooner!

Customizing the sat lists are a real hassle but doable. There have been threads on this.

I can't complain about my Ultra, after the fit of getting the dish aligned just right. It is the best receiver I got. Thought about the Premiums but with the issue of the power supply, I decided to go with the Ultra.
I give it a 8 out of 10 scale. The slow blindscan is a issue with me.
I enjoy recording (Radar, FINALLY got the receiver recording the show I wanted to record!!!). And I can use the MAZ 3 and TuneAZBox from my PC to really enhance the Ultra.
The wired ethernet works great for me, wish I have much better internet speed.

Some of the older power supply's had problems and would croak on people.
The newer ones do not seem to have the same problem.
I believe the older ones had a green light on them the newer ones do not.
I have the newer p/s on 2 premium plus receivers and have not had any problem.

Azboxe's do have their quirks, but if you update it to the latest daily software 98 percent of the quirks go away. Its a semi solid box that is worlds ahead of the pansat 9200. The only thing I need now is a bigger dish on the cband side and I would be extremely happy!
