Is it possible to obtain new smart cards for used 301 receivers?
Yes you can.:) But in order to obtain a new smart card ,you'll need to provide to DN the Cam Id to verify no upstanding balance is uncover on that ird.;)

Excuse my stupidity. What's a CAM ID? I have called about a used 301 I purchased at a garage sale that had no Card. I gave them the R00 STB number and they charged me $49 and that was about all of it. So now I am curious what a CAM ID is? Guess I would suck as a hacker, lol.

The camid is the card serial # s00XXXXXXXX

Interesting...but if you buy a STB without a card, there is no way to have that.

In fact, it seems they want you to buy a new one instead

If you look the back of your receiver you'll see a label with the model and the batch id
also the CAID and the main board id,ALL IRDS happens to have that.;)
BTW you don't need to be a hacker to know this.

But that's the Reciever R00 number, not the Card S00 number.

The Card S00 is nowhere on the back of any of my E* STBs if that is in essence the CamID.

But I'd clearly suck as one if I don't know it.
