I just subscribed to E*. I have two VIP211s. One works well and responds to remote commands very quickly (<1 sec). The other VIP211 is very slow responding to remote commands (~5 sec). The fast VIP211 is hooked up to a Samsung HDTV via HDMI. The slow VIP211 is attached to a computer via the S-video output. I called a CSR and they said it was a software issue. We went through the soft and hard reset routines with no improvement. They sent a new receiver and it has the same issues the previous one did.

Does anyone know if there is a remedy to the slow remote response? Thanks for any help you can provide.

it's not the receiver or the remote. same thing happens when you hook up tivo box to a dish receiver it slows down the remote ( from personal experiences)
or also if you have un used but pluged in amplifier in same room

Does your computer have a built in dvr? I run my 522 tv2 output to 3 monitors including into my Windows Media center PC and because the signal is being buffered through the hard drive first there is at least a 3-4 second delay on remote commands and also on the audio/video on the computer monitor versus one of the tv's in the same room. Something to consider.

i'd be thinking more along these lines.
are you sure its the remote thats slow? or could it be that the delay is in the computer displaying the picture?
I'm not sure i believe the csr that said it was a software problem, check to see if both receivers have the same software, if so, how could that be the problem.
if you have another tv, try hooking it up to another television and see if it still reacts slowly... i dont know the exact fix, but if i had to guess, i'd blame the computer
