SlingTV Invites going out tonight 1/26

WatchESPN allows replay of previously aired events, so it provides a DVR-lite feature. I wonder how SlingTV "knows" when I'm watching the WatchESPN app on another device?
Shouldn't be hard to tell since your log in info is tie to your sling TV account.

Cut the sports inflated bonanza of dolllars. I love baseball and used to watch basketball and nfl and even soccer. All have been cut and now watch baseball games once in a while. There more important events in life than sports.

I wonder if anyone got the invite anywhere in the country? Might be something unforeseen causing problems with the launch of the service. I mean if no one from Satguys got an invite, then something is wrong.

According to this they ARE going out, but slowly.

Its a good idea. They would go down if they blasted out 1000 invites and everyone started pinging the system at once. I have seen it with launches of an online service before like MMOs. I had pre-ordered Wildstar and one of the perks was being able to pick your name before the game launched. The page got hammered and it was very difficult to reserve a name. Left a lot of people upset. The response from the company is that they just couldn't plan for that kind of traffic. Also on launch day there were issues. As much as doing a slow roll of invites sucks, its the right move to ensure the stability of the system.

Actually no....Midnight (and noon) are neither AM nor PM by definition.

You are running on a common misconception
http://dictionary.reference.com/help/faq/language/g14.html

since Noon and Midnight are only technically a sub-measureable Instant of time, 12:00 AM is midnight because the sub seconds afterward make it ante meridiem

The thirtieth edition of the U.S. Government Style Manual (2008) sections 9.54 and 12.9b recommends the use of "12 a.m." for midnight and "12 p.m." for noon

of course none of this accounts for the leap seconds or the fact the true length of 1 rotation is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds.

I've heard debates about this is it 24:00 or 00:00???
Largely most of the world uses 00:00 -23:59. As 24:00 and 00:00 represent the same thing in most scenarios except legal contracts that state a start date with a 00:00 time and end date with 24:00 for start and end of days for clarity. Aside from small areas of the world. 24:00 doesn't exist and 23:59.9999 etc represents the day ending and 00:00.00001 etc represents the beginning of a new day
Last I knew Military time uses 00:00:00 as midnight at the start of the day and 24:00:00 as midnight at the end of the day

We never had an official one in the Army, and everything we did was on the 24 hour clock. Different leadership gave different answers. Never a consistent, although we all understood immediately.

I always thought it went from 2400 to 0001..... That's how we did it in the missile silos in the 60s and I think it's the correct way.

The most common "settlement" I have seen is 24:00:00 and 00:00:01. Basically there was no fragment of time between that one segment, which we all know is impossible, but was so insignificant(for what we were doing atleast) it didn't matter.

The defense contractor I worked for in Southern Cal for 36 years used military time for log in log out at the security guard posts. We just dealt with hrs and mins but it was the 24 hour clock

If Microsoft, Apple, Ford, and Sony think midnight is 00:00, then that's good enough for me!

Just one question: what does that have to do with Internet Streaming TV services?

Just so I understand it only costs $20/month right ? That is pretty cheap even if you have to watch commercials, and then combine those live channels with other video sources and for roughly $40-$50 (depending on how far you want to to go) a month with netflix, hulu plus. etc. That's way cheaper than my $200/month DISH bill (which is my choice) SlingTV definitely will not work for me, Suddenlink finally added data caps to my internet and I borderline or go over the allowed 350 GB/month already.
