Sling TV & Dish May Soon Drop The FX Network & National Geographic

There are so many streaming services that offer so many cable services. One can always add one if they have a streaming device for a short period, if they have good internet. There are no contracts with streaming services and no extra fees so you can add and drop channels at any moment.

Earlier today it was announced that Sling TV and Dish may soon drop Fox Regional Sports Networks as talks continue on a new contract. Now we have learned that FX and National Geographic may also soon be dropped as Disney and Dish negotiate for a new contract now that Disney owns the FX Network.

Back in March Disney closed on its deal to buy most of Fox. Disney now owns 20th Century Fox movie and television studio, Fox’s 22 regional sports channels (that will soon be sold off), cable channels including FX and National Geographic, and Fox’s portfolio of international operations, including a fast-growing pay-TV service in India. The deal will also give Disney 60% ownership of Hulu.

Sling TV & Dish May Soon Drop The FX Network & National Geographic - Cord Cutters News

Good afternoon! Periodically, DISH and its channel owners negotiate deals so that we may offer high-quality content at a fair value. We are committed to the goal of providing channels at a reasonable cost. We're still in negotiations, and we are hopeful to not only reach an agreement, but a long-term agreement for our customers.

The Disney box (FX, FXX, Nat Geo et al.) has disappeared off of my Dish Promise as of this morning; hopefully a good omen. Fox Sports still says a temporary extension has been granted for continued negotiations

This, combined with the fact that the Fox Sports RNS's were dropped, makes me think FX, FXX, etc, did get a new deal done for those channels. It was reported that both those channels and the RSN's were expiring at the same time. And if a new deal wasn't done, then I would think those others would have been dropped. I remember back in Sept. 2013 when the Disney contract expired for ESPN, Disney Channel and all those others channels that it was extension after extension for almost 6 months before they came to a full range agreement. Disney tends to not want to lose channels from what it appears - both with Dish and other providers.

With the RSN's, Disney knows that those are going to be with Sinclair shortly anyways, so they might feel "let them deal with those"

Any way to save the timers?
