So my sling adapter stopped working and they sent me a new sling adapter and its not working either, so i called in and was told that this is a known problem and that an engineer ticket needs to be filed. So the ticket was filed but has anyone had this problem where the box shows the sling adapter as invalid and shows the sling software as 0.0.0 and had this problem fixed?

I tried all 3 usb ports, and none works, and no the red light is off :-( I tried all 3 ports with my original sling adapter and the new one.
I hope that's what happened Krell. I am going to try and plug a hard drive into the box and see if the USB ports are working.

I had the same invalid/0.0.0 and had no red light. Got a replacement and sent mine back. Now it works just fine with my hopper. Maybe they gave you my old one. On a side note, before i sent my old one back, i plugged it into the usb port on my computer to see if anything would be recongized and it started smelling like smoke. Thought my house was catching on fire.
They told me to connect it to the computer and no red light, i just connected the new one and no red light. It does look like a used sling adapter.
I have a similar thread going in the main forum. Apparently it is possible to get two bad ones in a row, because I did too.

On a side note, I had the same thing with my first bad one dnszyk77, it started smoking when plugged in. I am starting to wonder about the hardware in these things. It seems very cheaply made.
