If it's unusually slow, try rebooting. If you recently upgrade to HD, you will notice that fast forwarding is slower than with SD channels. And, some HD channels will be slower than others as some have less compression than others.

Ah, I've always wondered why HBO and Cinemax fast forward so slowly. It's kind of annoying actually.
