Size of dish for southern states

Hi Guys
I'm thinking about getting a 180cm fortec star fs6d for c-band nps programming.
I live around new orleans la and I was wondering if the dish is big enough to receive the channels. What do you think? Is there anybody in the lower US using a 6 ft dish? It's a solid dish that I was told is as good as a 8 to 10 ft mesh dish. What do you think about the solid compared to the mesh setup.

It's got zippo to do with signal strength. The larger dish size is required to discriminate between powerful 2 degree spaced C Band satellites.

A solid dish is better for Ku signals, but you'll need a bigger dish for the reason stated above.

Best thing to do is grab a used 10' I bet you will find one free.
