Like I said in the video I am wondering if there are issues at one of the CDN sites. This could cause some of the issues as well.

I actually purchased software which monitors the server from the server itself and that one does all kinds of system checks. And the last issue we had that it reported was the time they moved us to the server the other night.

And while everything is showing running fine I did get alerted of an outage at noon.

While another uptime checker reported no issues at the same time but is located in another location.

That to me would seem to indicate it may be a cdn issue.

I am out grocery shopping now. But when I get home I am going to disable the CDNs and serve everything (but the images) from this server. (If it’s an issue at the image cdn server which only serves images then the images won’t show)

Who knows maybe with this test it will show we don’t need the CDn servers anymore. That would save us a lot of money if it was the case.

For what its worth some other sites have been slow. Not just SG.

And this could point to a CDN issue as well as many sites use CDN’s.

Who knows with all going on in the political world who knows what people are trying to do to the internet to try getting back at us. (The country not SatelliteGuys itself)

Ok the CDN's are off now... all data (but images) are being served off our server.

Well another piece to add to the puzzle.

Remember when I mentioned we had a warning about possible malware in an attachment a few weeks ago, and how I installed a different scanner software to the server to scan the server?

Well I installed it and scanned and it came up clean so then I uninstalled that software as I didn't want to pay a monthly fee for it so I uninstalled it. And our current AV software we have now works fine.

Anyways in uninstalling it, it appears that it disabled ModSecurity which I won't get into details about, but it scans all traffic for malicious things.

So in going through the server since turning off the CDN support in Xenforo, I noticed that it was disabled. So with a push of a button I turned it back on and within seconds I had 3 pages of malicious things it blocked from attacking our server. Most of them being attempted database injections. These have now been stopped in their tracks. And with that the server load on the database server has dropped as well.

Could this have been an issue too?

Also looking at the ip's that are being blocked the overall majority of them are from China. So I just blocked China from connecting to the server.

our database is now on MariaDB and not MySQL

MariaDB replaced MySQL in many Linux distros a few years ago. Whether the config hacks are tranferrable is unclear.
