Can we all just agree that Root Sports was possibly the worst name for an RSN ever...
Agreed!

Where I don't like the name Root, at least it was a name that went with something that happens in sports. Can we all just agree that Root Sports was possibly the worst name for an RSN ever...
True, another thing as well with the root Sports networks was their production values and lack of original programming compared to Fox Sports just my two cents here...Where I don't like the name Root, at least it was a name that went with something that happens in sports.
Where I live its NESN and NBC Sports Boston, so I never had a Root Sports. My understanding though is that Root basically continued with the FSN programming, just with the Root Name.True, another thing as well with the root Sports networks was their production values and lack of original programming compared to Fox Sports just my two cents here...

They did continue with select Fox sports programming but as far as original programming besides live games, pre/post game shows, and team insider shows it was non-existent. It's as if the owners didn't want to invest money into the networks just the bare basics.Where I live its NESN and NBC Sports Boston, so I never had a Root Sports. Back when our NBC Sports was FOX Sports New England, I found it to be subpar to that of NESN.
Sinclair would most likely be rename the FSN RSNs to Stadium as they already own the Stadium OTA sports network.
I started reading your post and thought, "sounds just like us." Then I read more and realized we're watching the same stations!
That was Liberty's decision to buy those specific regional FSN's, turn them into Root, then just use national filler programming during non-game hours. In this case, FSN is going away. So, I assume that unless Sinclair is thinking of brokering a deal, they'll need to keep each RSN somewhat as it is.Somehow I doubt Sinclair will do that, unfortunately. My RSN (FSM) has a lot of good talent and original programming related to the Cardinals, and I'm afraid that will be going away.
In a perfect world NBC would aquire Root Sports NW and merge it with NBC Sports NW...And, unfortunately, Western Washington still has that Root name on its RSN. We don't have NBC Sports Northwest on dish - yet.
In a perfect world, the conglomeration would stop and channels would stand on their own merits. In a perfect world NBC would aquire Root Sports NW and merge it with NBC Sports NW...

It would only take one more merger to make that happen.NBC Universal Comcast KFC Taco Bell Pizza Hut Fox Sports Mountain Dew
