Hi, first timer here. I hope someone might be able to help. I have two receiver (Bell Express Vu) one is a 3100 and 5100 (PVR). My 5100 is always losing it signal. Sometimes it works and other times every 5 minutes it lose its signal. To restore the signal I have to pull the card and unplug the unit. I move the satelight from downstairs to upstairs and work for a bit and now is doing the same thing. The 3100 works fine at both locations. Occasionaly the 3100 pauses for about 10 seconds. On the 5100 I did a 6-1-1 and ran the check switch and I am getting X instead of the Odd and Even. Could the problem be anything but the receiver? I notice it happens more when the weather is warm. Just this morning I was able to watch 20 minutes before it cycle threw its signal.... Also I have notice the 5100 skipping more. Any ideas :) Thanks

What type of LNB's are you using? Couple options
-2 separate LNB's and 2 SW21's
-A Legacy Twin
-Dish Pro Twin

DishPro has a big "DP" on it...reason I ask is there is a bad batch of DP Twins out there that does the exact same thing you're describing.

I am not sure....on the dish I have only one LNB that came with the unit. The dish was purchase last year. I don't think this help....someone told me to check the LNB to see it the cables are loose? But why only one receiver at both location? You would think the problem would cause the 3100 to lose signals.

true.

Do you see just 91 or both?

What I would try is this
-turn off unit
-unplug cable from back of receiver (the one that goes to the LNB)
-turn unit on and run check switch to clear everything
-turn unit back off and plug cable in
-rerun check switch

What kind of signals do you get on transponders 13 & 14?

only the 5100 has the major problem.....it loses its signal at both locations? The 3100 sometimes pauses but works pretty good. The 5100 has the problem at either location.

then it isnt the cable...it might be the unit

What kind of signals are you getting?
Did you try the check switch trick posted above?

No yet.....I am not at home yet.......the signal strength varies....per channel but I lose signal stregth when its at 95%.....i have never had a signal under 86%

I tried the check switch and still get the same problem with the system losing it signal stregth.

The first time I ran the switch check I got the X, after I plug the unit back in and ran the switch when it was finished the system turn itself off. I ran it again and got 91 Odd and Even. I change the transporter to 15 from 17 but I think it goes back to 17. The 5100 has nothing the same thing at two different locations.....the 3100 is still working fine. Anything else to try?
