TERMINATOR (R) (1984)Writer/director James Cameron's classic sci-fi thriller stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a robotic killing machine from the future, Linda Hamilton as the waitress he has targeted for death, and Michael Biehn as the time-traveling soldier who tries to save the human race by saving her. Lance Henriksen, Paul Winfield, Dick Miller and Rick Rossovich costar in this unforgettable action epic that spawned a pair of sequels, a theme park attraction, and several A-list careers.

NATIONAL LAMPOON PRESENTS BARELY LEGAL (R) (2003)A trio of high school buddies (Tony Denman, Erik von Detten and Daniel Farber) who have become sophisticated aficionados of erotic cinema decide to make their own adult skin flick - but when their first production is a surprise smash, the boys run afoul of an annoyed pornography czar (Horatio Sanz). Tom Arnold and Amy Smart costar with Sarah Jane Potts and Riley Smith in this production also known as "After School Special."

CLERKS (R) (1994)First-time filmmaker Kevin Smith made headlines in the independent film world when this outrageous, low budget ($27,575) slacker comedy won the Filmmakers Trophy Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson play a couple of low-paid clerks toiling in adjoining convenience and video stores. In "a classic example of how to spin straw into gold" ("New York Times"), Smith charts one day in the lives of this unkempt and unlucky duo as they deal with oddball customers.

THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT (PG13) (1995)An environmental lobbyist (Annette Bening) becomes romantically involved with the widowed president of the United States (Michael Douglas) but their relationship jeopardizes his political agenda. Michael J. Fox, Richard Dreyfuss, Martin Sheen, Samantha Mathis, David Paymer and Anna Deavere Smith costar in this hit romance from director Rob Reiner and "The West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin.

LORD OF WAR (R) (2005)Nicolas Cage stars in this drama thriller as Yuri Orlov, a Russian immigrant who becomes a millionaire in the Eighties and Nineties by reselling weapons from his politically crumbling homeland to "hot spot" regions around the world, all while marrying a beautiful woman (Bridget Moynahan), dodging a determined federal agent (Ethan Hawke), and occasionally facing the immorality of his chosen profession. Jared Leto and Ian Holm costar in this film from writer/director Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca," "The Truman Show").

10TH & WOLF (R) A soldier in Desert Storm facing a court-martial is offered a chance to clean his legal slate by returning to his Philadelphia neighborhood and getting the goods on a local Italian mob boss. James Marsden, Piper Perabo, Giovanni Ribisi, Brian Dennehy and Dennis Hopper star in this drama from "Crash" and "Million Dollar Baby" producer Robert Moresco.

MADISON (PG) (2001)This fact-based drama follows the efforts of former hydroplane boat racer Jim McCormick (James Caviezel) to stage a comeback when his small town of Madison, Indiana hosts the 1971 Gold Cup championship in the sport he once reluctantly sacrificed to start a family. Mary McCormack, Jake Lloyd, Bruce Dern, Brent Briscoe and Paul Dooley costar in this inspirational sports film in the tradition of "Hoosiers" and "Rudy."

THE ZODIAC (R) (2005)The true story of San Francisco's notorious Zodiac serial killer is retold in this gripping crime drama starring Justin Chambers as a single-minded detective who is grimly determined to reveal the taunting murderer's identity, even as the city is gripped by fear from 1968-69. Robin Tunney, Rory Culkin, Philip Baker Hall and William Mapother costar in this riveting, fact-based account of a crime that remains unsolved.

EDMOND (R) (2005)Over the course of one long, eventful evening, a buttoned-down New Yorker named Edmond Burke (William H. Macy) is completely undone by the statement of a fortune teller that he is not where he belongs - and finds himself mingling with an unsavory element that may provoke him to violence. Based on the play by David Mamet and directed by horror maestro Stuart Gordon, this independent thriller costars Bai Ling, Joe Mantegna, Denise Richards, Jeffrey Combs and Dule Hill.

STRANGERS WITH CANDY (R) (2005)A 46-year-old ex-con and recovering junkie named Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris) returns to high school to finally earn her diploma in this hilarious prequel to the cult hit television series that's a searing spoof of "After School Specials" and "very special episodes" of family sitcoms. Series co-creators Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello also star with Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Allison Janney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Justin Theroux and Ian Holm.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING: DARCHINYAN VS. MALDONADO (Not Rated)

Lord of War 3.5 stars. I thought this was a good entertainging movie. It some how claims but nerver stated that it was based on true facts. It did have some of the "x-files" in it. Cage does a very good job with his roll. Ecko (from Lost) did a very good job as the president of liberia. It was enjoyable.

Zodiac 3.0 stars. While waching this movie, I was thinking that if this was a CSI episode the murders would have been solved by the shoe prints on the mud or the tire prints. Some how CSI episodes always find clues in a database that they pulled out of the hat. But I was reminded by the movie that it was not a CSI episode and based more on a true story. I am very surprised that a high profile case like this has not been solved. The movie move slowly and tries to emphasize the pressure that the community has by having a killer on the loose. I was not very convinced by this plot but it was good to see the girl that played Veronica in Prison Break.

Mission Impossible III 2.0 stars not as good as the other two but still lots of action and explositions. Cruise is cruise on this one and tries to be more of the father figure. I think they should have not made this one and should not make anymore.

I subscribed to Showtime in HD recently for the Tudors - which looks very good in HD (although the writing and historical accuracy don't compare to Rome or Deadwood). However, I was disappointed by the large quantity of SD programming on Showtime-HD. Even brand new episodes of Penn & Teller (filmed in the last few months) are in 4x3 SD.

Terminator in HD didn't look much better than the DVD - probably because it was a low-budget film - it looks somewhat grainy in HD. Certainly the film ended up being much better than anyone expected before it was made...

Didn't T2 get released in a special HD disk well before Blu-Ray or HD-DVD ?

Regarding Mission Impossible -
I think they should have not made this one and should not make anymore.
I thought the same thing when they changed from Hill to Peter Graves. If they had followed my advice, there never would have been any color episodes, let alone movies. :D
