Last night we had a steady rain for most of the night. It was never a thunderstorm, and the rain was only moderate, yet Cinemax HD kept cutting out. I'm assuming it's all due to the 129 satellite (my signal strength on a clear day on 129 ranges from 71 to 88, depending on the transponder).

From what I've read, this is about as high as I can expect to get on 129. Do I have any other options?

It seems strange that Dish would put their HD premiums on a weak satellite. I've never lost my signal (to my knowledge) on the other satellites since I got Dish in May, but 129 is a different story.

Not too many options. You can either live with the current D1000 or get a separate D300/D500 and have it aimed at either the 61.5 or 129 (depending on your programming). In either case, the separate dish will give you a stronger HD signal.
