Should I move to ViP from 942?

I currently use a dishnetwork setup with 3 DVR boxes, serving 5 televisions (2 of the boxes are dual tuner).

My HD box is the 942. I keep getting hangup calls from dishnetwork, very annoying, I will call them when I have some time.

Is there any reason to upgrade to the vip box at this time? I believe it has the mpeg 4 capability, which would allow for more channels in HD in the future. Will Dish subsidize any equipment change? I downgraded my service several months ago to AT60, with add-on HBO and I kept the old dishnetwork HD pak for 10.00. This maneuver was supposed to save money, but my monthly bill is still 82.00, not terribly lower than when I had the AEPak.

A bit rambling here, I know, but I really just want to know if I can upgrade to one of the new HD packages, get a new box if it is needed, and get more channels for similar cash. Am sure I am not alone in my rather pie-in-the-sky wish, but any ideas from those of you that have been thru this would be appreciated, as dish sure hasnt helped when I spoke with them in the past. Thanks.

Yeah I would get on one of the new MPEG4 receivers that way you can get on one of the new HD Plans. Also your update on your equipment and you should be able to upgrade. Overall the new receivers are just better than the old and the interface is much better. Plus if you want some of the new HD channels I think you half to be on one of the new receivers.

It just depends if you want to new HD channels or not. Functionally the 622 and 942 are about the same. It will cost $199 to upgrade but you can get $10 a month for 10 months if you upgrade to one of the new DishHD plans. They were offering a $100 credit for returning your 942, don't know if that is still in effect or not. I kept mine and replaced my 510.
