Shortcut to change sort Alpha to DVR date

I like the new sort of alpha and DVR date. Is there a way to togle between the two without having to select Sort and then select either alpha or DVD date?

Which DVR model do you speak of? Almost all the Dish DVR's have had the features you've described since day one.

The order of the sort listings recently changed on the 622 - DVR Date was moved up to the 2nd option, vice being down in the list. Additionally, when displaying your recordings on the 622 you can now toggle between your last two sort options by using the "swap" key on the remote. For most people, they will toggle betweem Alphia and DVR Date.
