Does anyone know the purpose for adding the numbers (0,2, 4, 6, 8 ) to the setup in changing a system from a standard lnb to a new type SWM lnb? I did one recently and everything worked fine after I went back and changed to the proper type dish. I was just curious about why the numbers were recommended.

Pushing 0-2-4-6-8 in rapid, but firm order, on the remote at the correct time during a reset will download and install what SW is in the stream at that time.

:welcome to Satelliteguys Bob Haas!

As Drucifer mentioned, that will reset the receiver/dvr and download the latest software. You don't have to do that to change from a standard lnb to a swm type. The equipment will detect the swm lnb and automatically make the change.

while that is usually true, i have found that sometimes the receiver needs a swift kick in the IC to get signal again, and doing the software download does the trick. either from being 775/771 too long or switching from legacy to SWM.
