SES-3 finally coming to 103W?

I'm hoping they just didn't update the orbital elements yet. I'm not at my TV so I can't check if anything changed, but I don't know if they're going to move the signals over right away anyway.

Doubt they will move them right away they will at the least do a few days of testing.

looking at the orbital elements directly from USSTRATCOM, they are current (current day, GMT) and I don't see things in the elements that I would expect to see to make me think SES is feathering SES-3 into the 103 deg W orbital slot.

It stinks SES-3 is not licensed by the FCC and that foreign government's licensing website $#@@! ^&*$ so you can't see what SES requested for this current move. All we can do is watch the elements.

Another H.S. mission in the west?? Wherever it's going, it's going in a hurry. (unless it's got BIG brakes)

Usually these sites simply calculate the satellite placement. It is not real-time satellite tracking.

I expect to hear an announcement that SES-3 has arrived in the 103w position.

It's at 105.6W right now, according to the n2yo site. I checked the kep that site is using and it matches the most current on the Space Track site.

I'm not disputing what you say Brian, but I was under the impression that Stratcom derived their keps from actual tracking data. Do you have any idea?

Not at this time, the other places that have them dont really get used.

Of course if we get a few members who request it we can add it later and show users we listen to their requests. :)

It is estimated on the last two points. So many times I have seen people freaking out saying the satellite passed up its spot.

The live real time satellite tracking website may say that it's at 105.6W right now, but by looking at the other estimated numbers... it has been slowing down a lot and it has descended to the proper altitude that all other satellites are located at. Perhaps it's making the final adjustments.

n2yo now shows it stationary at 103.44.
