Sold our house and moving to a temporary residence. Does dish allow to suspend service until we find a new place? Do they charge?

its I think 4.95 (or $5) a month and you can suspend it up to 6 months at a time

Depends on the receiver, some will play, most need to have receiver getting a sat signal from Dish in order to work for a bit.

Try taking tge satellite cable off the reciever and give it a go before you actually move. That will give you the answer.
