Coworker has Dish but has never gotten a DVR. I recently upgraded to the 622 and still have a fully functioning 721. Thinking about selling my 721 to her, but don't want to sell her something that'll be obsoleted anytime soon. (Was pleasantly surprised to see them selling on Ebay for nearly $200?!:)

She has no intentions of getting HD anytime soon, so that's not a problem.

If it cr*ps out on her, is Dish still repairing/replacing them? How much are they charging for their replacement program these days?

Thanks!

repair no, replace with the same no as well, these were phased out some time ago so they will probably set her up with the closest receiver type wich would be either a 522 or a 510 and then she will have to pay a dvr fee.

My 721 just recently crashed and I had it replaced with another 721 on the DHPP.

Dish seems to have a supply of 721 receivers to use for replacement. How long that supply will last is anybody's guess but for now if she had it replaced it looks like she'd get another 721.
