Second homes

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

how does the "2 receivers at both places at the same time is a no-no" rule apply if you have two houses right next to each other and they and the land are both owned by you?

Just wondering as this is what I've been doing for a few years now - even ran a phone line over to the 2nd house along with the sat cable just in case - what does DN have to say about this?

Generally, Dish wants all receivers under the same roof. They do realize some people want service in detached garages or guest houses and this is usually ok.

As far as the two houses side by side, if one (or both) is a rental and they are sharing one account, this is considered account stacking and definitely a no-no.

I just had a thought - if you send the signal from your receiver to another house over wireless and use one of those IR remote senders (both cost about $100 with 120ft range) would that count as having service at a second location even if you don't actually have the receiver at the second location? And what about what Sling is doing - if u use a sling box and a sling catcher as a dedicated solution is that considered service at a second location?

Seems like a huge loophole - if you keep all receivers under one roof then you are ok, even if you control said receiver from a remote location.
