Does the SD DVR40 have ability to "Chase Play" while recording?..That is start watching a program from the beginning while it is still recording,regardless of how far along that recording is in progress? I understand the "pause live TV" feature has a 30 minute limit,but Can I watch a program from the start while it is still recording regardless of the length? Also,can you watch a completed previously recorded program while simultaneously recording a new program, similar to how DVD-RAM recorders or DVD w/HDD recorders can function?

yes it does have that feature, that is a part of Tivo as I know it .. all my tivoes have offered this.
On all the DirecTiVos you can play any recording no mater how much is actually recorded at the time. In theory, you could record something and watch it essentially live the whole time if you want to.
Since it has dual tuners, you can watch something previously recorded (completely) and record 2 other shows at the same time. You can also watch something live (sporting event or the like) and record something at the same time with the second tuner.
