Scott - we need another "26k member" letter - this time to Congress

I hear congress may take some action on new DTV legislation next week. Probably 2 bills: one for the money stuff & another for everything else.

Maybe SatGuys should put it's "26k member" clout into a letter to Sen Stevens (Alaska) about getting some wording added to insure those of us with NO digital OTA options can receive HD DNS.

We tried the "individule email to congress" bit preceeding the last legislation last Dec and we got screwed. Maybe some solidarity would work better.

We need to send a letter to 60 minutes so they can do an expose on the unhealthy relationship between rupert murdoch and the fcc!! That might make a difference

Probably not but it's better than a handful of letters from just a few individules.

We may be missing some opportunities here.

The media gets excited when the FCC acts on a letter generated by some obscenity watchdog group that has a couple of hundred members.

Let's use that to our advantage for a change. 26,000 seems like a nice number to get attention to me. Pick a topic that is of interest to us, fire off a letter, and see what happens.....

I still feel that 300+ individials responses has a lot more weight than one letter reporting to represent 26,000 members thanks to groups like the NAB and NCTA.

A letter (to Congress) regarding the newest MPAA/RIAA actions might be appropriate, too.

Maybe it would have more clout if we had an individual page for each letter to digitaly attach our names to and only those with verified accounts could access to prevent fraudulant and fake sigs.

I know it wouldn't get the clout of all 26,000 members but atleast those who actually agree with the current letter would be able to show there agreement.
