Scott - Eastern Arc confusion!?!

Sadly, that question will remain in our minds, until answered definitively. And that's based on experience.

It's been posted elsewhere that Dish will be moving to making all new equipment installs MPEG-4 capable.

And I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that they won't be charging that HD enabling fee to SD only customers anymore, if the SD customer's box is MPEG-4 by Dish's decision.[/quote

Charlie said in their earning call that they were running the inventory down and would no longer be selling MPEG-2 boxes by year end and expected MPEG-2 to be gone in 3-5 years. Scott has mentioned that his numerous contacts say that there is a supply problem (lack of inventory) for the new boxes. I'd speculate that is the reason they are still peddling old boxes and also the reason they are dragging on Turbo for existing customer-- they jumped the gun on the launch and don't have inventory to support it and are allocating product to "new-new" Turbo customers first.)

Maybe they're waiting for wafer scale integration of the entire box before expanding production.
