Schilling blasts Ramirez..........again!!

My DREAM scenario would be for all of these team GMs to tell their respective interviewers on sports radio that they have no interest in a player that would sabotage their team and intentionally fail to give more than 40% effort and infuriate the fans... He then winds up taking a pay cut to play for LA..... It's not likely, but I wish it were.....

A-freakin men!!! :up

Forget the bet, (how would we ever decide the winner on that one?), BUT, if Manny didn't "quit" on his team, maybe they would have ran away with the division, and they wouldn't have had any reason to trade Manny. Baseball can forgive a lot. Quitting on your team, (for whatever reason he had), is not one of them. But the truth is, he did quit. Funny how they started winning after he was traded. Coincidence? I think not. As for Schilling, don't kill the messenger.

AWESOME post, Paul!!! :up (Schilling IS a windbag though, but that's a story for another day :D).

so now that they didn't get as far as everyone expected and was beat out by a team that sucked and was in last place last year....Mannygate is now all the rage.

So now your in a round about way, saying that the Rays are good this year because of Manny ?

Just because the Rays sucked for the last 10 years is no reason to not give them credit for what they are doing this year.

They have put together about 10 years of very high draft picks, they should be good sooner or later .....

Then again, so have the Lions and we don't see that happening any time soon :D

How much of the 50% of the lies and exaggeration that come from the clubhouse come from the media? I really thought the media's percentage of misinformation was a lot higher. Sorry, just having fun with your wars of words. Whether or not you like Curt, he did play pretty hard every time he took the field. I will now butt out of your highbrow mudslinging.

In my experience, the exaggeration comes the media and the lies/hiding facts come from the clubhouse.

I will not deny that Curt was a very good pitcher during his run nor will I deny that he was a hard worker....but this thing with athletes to either spill the beans AFTER the player is no longer playing or no longer in the league is cowardice to the 3rd degree. It also reeks of "I ain't gettin' attention anymore and I need 15 minutes MORE in the spot light". I just hope that the next time Manny see Curt, he smacks Schilling in the mouth.

Money solves everything. And if The SOx had shown him the money they would be up 2-0 in the WS today. Ortiz is a team player but he should have been traded for Bay.

They over paid him a half decade ago and that didn't improve his outlook....

It's not collusion if no owner decides they want to risk the circus coming to town in their locker room.....

Look at Barry Bonds..... Collusion or not, NO ONE wanted that freak show in their house.... It's only collusion when you get together and agree to do something against a player. if you all come to a conclusion on your own, it's not. And what rational person would subject themselves to being held for ransom by a player..? Get video footage of Manny watching three straight pitches from Mariano Rivera where he obviously was "on strike" at the plate.... and send that to all the GMs, and then see how eager they are to put all their eggs in his basket.....

For me right now, victory re: Manny is for him to have to accept less than $20 million a year.... If he gets that the message gets sent that squeaky wheels get the oil and there will be a rash of Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson-esque malcontents causing trouble in the sport....

As if Mariano Rivera has not done that to no one else??!! IF you are gonna use THAT as an example/sample size....then you have no case.

Maybe, but this is the same weekend that he claimed a knee injury that MRIs couldn't find, and then he was limping on the wrong leg to feign injury.... moron.

Put it all together and you have a prescription for trouble. The Dodgers got good value because he was playing for his next contract. Once he gets it, his effort level will plunge if the past is any indicator.... Call BS if you want, but let's watch how productive he is next spring, especially if he doesn't get more than $20 million a year or only 2 years instead of 4....

Good post! :up

I just disagree on one thing:

Me-Me will put up big numbers the first two/three months next season just to prove everyone wrong.........then the evil Me-Me will be out a week before/during/after the All-star break for all the world to see! ;)

Thank you....what better way to show no argument than be calling a fellow poster a name....LOL! Look, I am not defending HIS actions, that is not what my agrument is about. My argument is about someone still mouthing off knowing full well that there is an almost better chance of winning the New England lottery than Curt Schilling ever seeing Manny again. There is no doubt Manny is a premadonna...but Schilling is an attention loving and missing whore. A Jose Canseco lite....

Very ironic.

Curt Schilling has been against steroids, and Canseco is Mr. Steroid.

Besides, when Schilling hangs it up, at least he won't challenge has-beens to a boxing match and keep his dignity!

I'd rather be remembered as an October postseason warrior than a has-been who loses to little guys in boxing rings.

Poor grammar on my part..... Apologies..... I didn't mean my fellow poster was a moron..... I said Manny is a moron because he didn't know what leg to limp on to fake his injury to force a trade.....

I meant no offense to any of you posters.... Merely expressing an opinion and attacking the idea, not the poster..... I may tilt towards some sarcasm on occasion, but calling a fellow SatGuy/Gal a moron is not part of my makeup....

LIke he's the only one in the sport

All cool.:up I ALSO think he is a moron because IF he had done things right, he would had retired a Red Sox and be beloved with people of the likes of Russell, Bird and Brady.

He was definetly headed there (two World Series wins.......a WS MVP) until this year. However, even BEFORE this year, Ortiz was the guy that I was putting in that elite class, because of all his clutch hits (I've NEVER seen a player with more), and his lovable character.

No one can touch Russell. More rings than fingers.......that's mind-numbing.
