I know that you have the wireless joey, but don't you also have another type of wireless setup? Just wondering which performed better?
after installing a few waps and wireless joey set ups its basically a one room wireless setup.I think that's his question, which works best!
plus with a wap and true wireless joey install you have to purchase the wap.
In fairness, for a regular Joey you have to purchase the wireless USB adapter. Not quite as much, but still an expense.
Granted, I have mine from my 722 days (but I had purchased it way back when - I was installed long before they were an option).all depends on the tech you get
for older vip receivers and older hopper 2000's us internals techs install dish branded usb wireless dongles for free to get connectivity.

the hopper joey system is pretty snazzy system, if the tech that installs it does it correctly and up to spec you will like it.thanks for the replies.............would hate to go through all the hassle of switching everything over to a hopper/joey setup & then not be satisfied

that wap doesnt like blasting through more than one wall.

I've had both configurations and the wireless joey is superior on my opinion. I also tested a few routers I was considering upgrading to, and the router contributed to the Joey 1.0 perform when using wifi adapter. Some routers worked better than others.
I would recommend the wireless joey and wireless access point.

It may have to do with how the home/building is constructed lots of new buildings both mdu's and single family homes are built using 100% steel frames here in tornado alley. I know it saves a ton on insurance costs if you build with steel here. So the building basically a giant Faraday cage.My Wireless Joey is in my room in the basement and our WAP is in the living room upstairs and on the other side of our house. I have no issues using my Wireless Joey.
