I just ordered dish network to get the german package. Online you cannot order the international package so i ordered the 250 pack with hd. After ordering i called dish to make sure they send out the correct equipment for install so i can get the german programming right away. when i called they said if i changed my order they would have to push back my install and that i should just let them install this weekend and then call and add international channels and they would "switch it on" but it seems to me that a normal install will not include sat 118.7. is that correct? and then what will they need to do, or what will they do in order to add the service? I have a feeling this is going to be screwed up from the start. i think the lady on the phone said the equipment i would recieve will be a vip722 and a 1000.2 dish. from what i can find on this site and dish network's tech site the 1000.2 does not have the ability to get 118.7. Can it? and if it cannot what is the solution to the problem for both me and dish network. and if it matters to answer this question i live in southeast wisconsin. Thanks for any advice or input.

Guten Tag Kenosha
You will need a Dish 100 Plus to get 118.7 for which the German Package is on. I would call Dish and have them modify the order so you will get the right dish for your install. You will also need a Dish Pro DP44 switch as well so you can get all 4 sats 110, 118.7, 119, 129.

Call back up and have some that is competent modify the workorder or else you are in for a big headache. The 250 with HD will just be a dish 1000.2 that picks up the 110, 119, and the 129 birds.
The dish 1000+ is a completely different dish that would need to be swapped in to get the german channels you are after. The Dish 1000+ uses a pricey DPP44 switch and picks up the 110, 118.7, 119 and 129 birds.

If you get installed with the top 250 and dish 1000.2 I can assure you they will attempt to charge you more to come back and install the new setup. Call them back and get someone who knows what they are doing.

You may just want to cancel and talk to Claude at the Dishstore here. Im sure he would have the best deal for you and knows exactly what you need.

I agree Call an
d cancel and then call Claude at dishstore.

I would cancel the order, and call me up tomorrow at 800-807-0837 and we will write it up again the correct way.

Best of all when you go through Dishstore you get an additional $50 rebate when you order SD Equipment, or $100 rebate when you order HD Equipment.

If you let them install with the incorrect Dish, they will probably want to charge you $99 to come back out, because at that point it would be considered an existing customer upgrade.

Ok, so I called back. They said they would switch me to a 1000+ but in order to get the german channels I will not be able to get local HD that comes from 61.5. Apparently the 1000+ will give me 110, 118.7, 119 and 129 but local HD is on 61.5 for Milwaukee. Will I be missing out on other channels as well because i don't have access to 61.5? This is all new to me but i have been researching as best i can. Is there somewhere to get a list of channels that are exclusive to one sat? and what is the status of where they keep channels? it seems like they are always moving. Are more channels moving to 61.5 and will i be locked out of getting them? They said something about there being a limit to how many sats were avaialble on one connection. It seems like an awful limitation to a new user...they offer all these channels and then i need to trade off to get one over the other.

They dont have to use the 129 on the Dish 500/1000+. They could use the DPP44 use a dish 500+ for 110, 119, 118.7 and a seperate dish for 61.5. This would get you all normal HD channels + your locals except for any regonial sports networks that may only be on 129.

Yep you can run a 500+ and a separate dish for 61.5.

61.5 and 129 both carry the same national HD channels.

The compromise you have to make at this time is this

61.5 has Milwaukee HD locals
129 has regional sport nets.

Another note is that the 61.5 is a more stable sat with less drop outs than 129. (for most people)

kenosha: how did your install go, did you go with the 1000+ for regional sports on 129 or did you go with the 500+ and a 500 dish aimed at 61.5 to get your Milwaukee locals in HD ?

I went with the 1000+ and skipped the local HD on 61.5. I figure I can get local HD OTA if I really want it, and considering I live in Kenosha (between Milwaukee and Chicago) OTA would give me both Milwaukee and Chicago channels, particularly WTTW from Chicago. What be really great is if I could atach an OTA antenna on my post that they attached my 1000+ and piggyback on their wiring, but I don't think that is possible because I'm already using 4 lnbs. Any ideas on how to accomplish that?

You need a different coax cable from your OTA antenna plugged into the back of your 722.

For me, I had to get an outside rotor and a pre-amp so I could rotate the OTA between two different cities at 35 degrees and at 165 degrees.

Also for me, the benfit of an OTA and also having Dish Locals in HD, lets me record 3 HD Locals TV shows at the same time while watching a pre-recorded one on the DVR.

If you only have an OTA, then you can only record one OTA HD Local channel at a time.
