I am having problems tuning in HDTV signals on my SC receiver. I receive four of the stations in the HD range.
All four have the wrong stations playing. I tune in channel 284 (NBCHD) but see channel 286 (CBSHD) and only in SD. I tune in channel 288 (PBSEHD) and see channel 290 (ABCHD). Channels 281 and 293 have programs from stations I haven't been able to identify yet. The DSR 505 has a button on the front to select the format of the output signal, auto, 1080i through 480i. I go through each setting but never get a HD picture. I tried on the stations with no picture (or sound) and tried each setting. Still no picture.
My setup is a SC DSR 505 receiver with two 60 cm dishes (one for F1 and one for F2) with Stacked CalAmp OEMed LNBF's for SC. The two dishes are connected to the receiver via 22 KHz 2-way multiswitch. Connected to a Panasonic TH-42PX60U using the component cables which came with the receiver. A DVI to HDMI cable is on order.

Contact the broker I will. Found out some additional info on why SC channel mapping is so convoluted.

Motorola bought General Instruments a number of years back, and the technology being used is actually General Instruments. General Instruments designed the technology for commercial use where the channels would get uplinked and downlinked by a wide variety of companies. The idea being that anyone could start a satellite uplink company and uplink a dozen or so channels to a dozen different customers (each only receiving their one respective channel) nationwide. In short, there's no predefined info in the set-top boxes other than the DigiCipherII key. The receivers have to first accept a channel map from the provider for the box to have any sort of personality. This is different than how Dish/DTV/ExpressVu work where everyone gets the same channels and it's just a matter of whether or not you can decrypt them. With the General Instruments equipment the channels literally don't exist if they're not in the channel map assigned to your receiver.

Is it safe to paint the dish?
