So as u guys can see.. a 6ft dish does get DVB-S2 channels just fine.

I get most of DVB-S2 from Galaxy 16 CBand fine too.

Btw.. both Satmex 5 and 6 were tested with my X2 Premium receiver.

this guy answered my criagslist ad.he says he is moving and is going to get rid of the dish.i asked how much do u want for it and he replied how much will u give me.he says i would have to take it down myself.should i just say $10 or something? hehe

If that is an over-the-roof very tall pole and dish, you should tell him to pay YOU to take it down! It'll take some work to do so, you'll need friends, and he should compensate you for it and still give you the dish (for a discount, you tell him).

I can't recommend an over-the-roof dish for your first time.
I've collected two ground-mounted dishes, and still wouldn't do it.
And yes, it's a pretty dish.

The chance of hurting yourself, the dish, or the house are just too great.
Of course, if your Dad owns a crane company,...

I've been eyeing a 10' (I think its a 10, possibly a 12) Paraclipse that is mounted above a flat roof next to the building. It is missing mesh, but I know that can be replaced. I'm just concerned about the take-down.

Well he said he's too old to take it down for $20.I told him him the only thing I can offer him is a sewing machine if I take it down.seems like he didn't like the deal.no answer from him yet.will be checking a 10ft one from a nearby town on sat.

Two dual-output LNBFs (what you posted looks fine), and a four input multiswitch.
Typical multiswitches have four or eight outputs.
They're known as 4X4 or 4X8 (4 inputs & 4 or 8 outputs).
5X4 or 5X8 just has an extra useLESS input, so they're okay, but just equal, not better.

Dont ignore the bigger ones; they're likely to be cheaper, depending where you look.

I wouldn't want to take one off somebody's roof, unless I was experienced in working on roofs ( I am, and still wouldn't want to do it). Too much can go wrong, if his roof leaks a year from now he just might try to blame you. Maybe in your travels you can keep an eye open for an easier one to go after.

Might be the photo, but the reflector looks bent. Stretch two strings edge to edge at opposite angles at several locations around the rim. Do the strings lightly touch in the center of the dish where they cross? I believe that the dish is warped and might need correction before any aiming.

No, you don't need a meter. Select the satellite that you are aiming for and activate in the satellite list. Set the LNB LO setting to match the LNBF LO frequency. Select an active transponder for this satellite and set a small TV next to the dish so you are able to watch the meter for the Signal Quality reading to indicate when the dish is on the satellite.

Im about to check out a cband dish that doesnt have the arms that hold the lnb in place.is it easy to find and install that peice? Cband dish is facing down in person's backyard.

How big IS it?
What kind of LNBF does it have?
Looks suspicious (very non-standard), so I make no assumptions.

Regarding the C-band BUD, show us some pictures.
If we can identify it, your task might be easier.
Regardless, there's simple math to help you figure out where to put the LNBF.

ok i went to a neighbor near me which was maybe 1.2 miles.he's selling this for $35.now the thing is.you see those missing panels at the bottom? theres two missing and the third panel has a hole.are these easy to repair?
