Hello Everyone:

Is there anyway of receiving satmex 5 c-band programming using a 40 inch dish, or do you have to use a full-size BUD. I was just wondering if any of you mad scientists have been able to get anything off this bird? I'm interested in some of the spanish programming listed on lyngsat.

Thanks
Rufus

I have never managed to get anything (so far) on my wee 40" dish (C-Band) from SatMex-5 : (

Thats DVB and Analog!

I get the following with 48" dish:

4196H - Edusat Feeds (scans in as UTE) - 60% quality - solid picture
4164H - Edusat Feeeds (scans in as Digital SNG) - 50% qaulity - solid picture
4134H - Canal 9 (scans in as TV1) - 40% quality - picture breaks up every 5-10 seconds depending on action on the screen
3855H - CB TV - 40% quality - picture braks up (music video is on so alot of movement)
3987V - Multimedios TV (3 channels scan in as TV1, TV2 and TV3) - 42% quality but picture breaks up
3913V- Sotel Canal 11 (scans in as CANAL-11 SOTEL) - 40% quality - very solid picture and no breakups

I have been moving my dish lately so it is note fine tuned. I might be able to pull in better values if I play around, but not much better. More southern states migh getter signal since EIRP is little better according to the coverage map. http://www.satmex.com.mx/img/flota/satmex5_c.gif

Here in Minnesota you'll probably want at least a 2 - 2.4m dish for that sat.

Better than the old days, when even a 10-footer didn't deliver much from Morelos 2 (which I believe preceded SatMex).
