SatelliteGuys.US Uplink Activity Report - 01/17/2007 - 350 changes

Yay I got guide data for CinCW now!!!!! To get the guide update I had to do a check switch so it forces a guide download.

Thanks Dish! (Now please try to get us some Cincy Locals in HD! :) )

Good to hear! Of the channels that I actually added to my 622 and 211, CinCW (12.2), MyTV in Dayton (45.2) and the PBS channels all say 'Digital Service' (did not add the weather subchannels for obvious reasons). I've been forced to use 26.1 in Dayton for recordings, which I will continue to do anyway, since they actually broadcast in HD. But it is still nice to have the guide data.

Now we just need the locals in HD so I can record more than one network show in HD. :)

I sent a email to Eric VanLaethem

EchoStar Satellite L.L.C
asking about any new HD channels coming including A & E HD

This was his reply

Thanks for the email. There has been no confirmation that A&E HD will be added to the programming line up. We still have no confirmed launch dates for the addition of any HD programming.

Maybe I should add a message to the bottom of the uplinks for people not to call or write E* about uplink non-available channels. Just because they uplink them doesn't mean they are going to make them available. When the engineering dept is testing a channel I can guarantee you no one on the "front lines" knows about it. If we keep writing or email them about new channels that are in testing mode they will simply stop telling us the names. You'll see "HDTST" or something added. Nothing more. Then when they get the contracts signed and the channel turned on they will flip the name. We will never know about it until it hits your guide.

If a channel makes it through testing but doesn't make it through the contract phase, don't get upset, it was never removed from your guide nor was than any press release about it. I'm surprised the uplink guys don't mess with us more due to people writing in. I know I would. I'd be naming channels "QVCHD", "WTHRHD", "NOHD", "D*HD", "SATGY", "PLYHD", "SD&HD", or whatever just to mess with people.

For those who care, HHS (Health and Human Services) is one of the public access channels that they are required to carry by law. I actually watch some of the public access channels every once in a while, when nothing else is on and PC is unavailable for surfing porn cause wife is still awake. That old "Uncle Bob's Country Music Hour" or whatever it is called on RFTV (Farm/Tractor Channel) is kind of like a train wreck, can't help but to look at it in disbelief. It is like a cheapass country hick version of the Lawrence Welk Show.
