My original RCA DSS dish was metal 18" single LNB. I did at one time have a Sony system - it was nice as it had a signal meter light on the lnb :)

That is weird! I had no issues with mine. When we switched in the late 90's to Dish, we had a cool Dish Network JVC Digital VHS receiver/recorder. Man that was awesome! $800 but I ended up getting it for free :)

Same here, I ended up with 2 systems as a lightning strike disabled my first receiver... tried hooking it up after a few months and it started working again...

The early DBS dishes were interesting. The Sony dishes used a proprietary LNBF (you couldn't use a stock DBS LNBF as a replacement). Other DirecTV dishes were fiberglass, manufactured by Channel Master (just like the Primestars). I have a fiberglass Phase II CM dish, from when the 110w bird was optional :)

I have one of those too Tron..The Phase II

while back when 91W had some free audio I had a DBS at 91, a KU at 101 because KUIL and 3ABN were strong signals and a DBS at 110 for my Dish subscription
