First, there were navigation systems using satellite guidance for cars. Then there was satellite radio. Now you can get satellite TV with 140 channels in your SUV, minivan or large sedan.

KVH Industries, maker of mobile electronics, began selling a satellite TV system called TracVision A5 for SUVs and minivans in September. The system includes a large, roof-mounted, pancake-shaped antenna, 31 inches in diameter and 5 inches high.

KVH's suggested selling price is $2,295, but retailers are selling it for less. KVH has a deal with DirecTV to offer programming for as little as $4.95 a month for current DirecTV subscribers and $39.95 for new users.

Combined with in-dash flat screens, cordless shavers, and breakfast sandwiches, we know have the perfect line-up of distractions to ensure absolute and complete lack of safety on the nation's roads. What a tremendous feat we have accomplished. Maybe Nader should re-do Unsafe at Any Speed to center on the drivers instead of the vehicles as todays vehicles are now safer at driving than the humans behind the wheel.

Sounds good for campers that travel a lot. The people that gets to rest from driving gets to watch tv (and surf the net if you get the device that tracks that satellite as wel) while the driver at least gets to listen. Too bad they dont have the device that allows you to two or three orbital slots at once like a Dish500, SuperDish, or the triple lnbf dish by DirecTv. One could get two I supposed and connect it to a switch if you want at least the Dish500 programming.
