Hi all,

I'm total newbie to FTA...I'm looking to get a satellite receiver to receive these Chinese channels - CCTV4, MACTV (broadcast on G3C) and NTDTV (broadcast on Telestar 5).

Based on some internet information (not confirm) that it seems CCTV4 requires these receivers 'Coship CDVB2000 or IR2000' due to CCTV4's signal being scrambled. However, MACTV and NTDTV can be received with any satellite receivers since the signals are not scrambled.

CCTV4 Information
=================
95.0W, Galaxy 3C

# Satellite: Galaxy 3C
# TP Freq: 11.780GHz
# Polarization: Horizontal
# Symbol Rate: 20.760 M/S
# Scan Mode: All
# Network Search: Off
# SR Search: Off

I saw this receiver 'Coship IR 2000' on kusat web site for sale. Just wondering is it a good buy or could I just use any Satellite reciver to receive CCTV4?

Seems you read some out of date information. No problem. ;)

CCTV4 is NOT scrambled on 95W Galaxy G3C

It is scrambled on 113W Satmex 6

For your receiver, I'm partial to recommending the Coolsat 5000 and 6000.
They can be bought for around $50 off eBay used and new.

Do you plan to motorize or go with 2 dishes for 95W and 97W?
Since you say you are new to this, I HIGHLY recommend you go with 2 dishes and a switch of some sort.

Please tell us what equipment you have so that we can help you better, if any.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have no satellite equipment right now. My only plan is to be able to watch those Chinese channels in multiple TVs.

So is two dishes approach better campare to using a rotor? Any possibility to use one dish and hit those two satellites (95W and 97W)?

You wont be able to hit both at the same time. Depending on how you want to do this with multiple TV's there are 2 ways. Do you want multiple receivers or just one receiver and have it go to multiple TV's?

If you want to have all TV's watch same program then I would go with a motorized system. If you want different chanenls on different TV's then you'd have to get a little more elaborate

2 30" (76cm) dishes
2 dual KU Band LNB"s

and depending on how many recievers you want then the switches may be different.

If all you want is CCTV4 (there are 4 channels in that group) then a simple 30" dish and KU LNB is all you would need (oh and the receivers)

Each TV will need to be able to watch different channels from CCTV4, MACTV and NTDTV at any one time. So I guess each TV will require a receiver.

Looks like two dishes approach is better, one point at 95W, the other point to 97W. What kind of LNB and switches do I need to feed to these receivers?

How many receivers?

You would need 2 30" or 36" dishes
2 KU band LNB's (make sure they are STANDARD)
a 4x4 multiswitch

Brother Anole has a great pic of a setup that would work exactly what you're looking for. It will support up to 4 receivers

The key thing is the LNB has to be a standard and not a Universal.

cool. Each receiver would have independent viewing of all channels on either satellite with that setup :)

What happened to RTPI on AMC 4?

Research Channel on 123W?
