Satellite interference with Ham Radio?

My neighbor is putting up a 20 foot ham radio antenna in the general direction of my satellite. It looks like my dish does not directly point at it.

Will the ham radio antenna cause interference to my signal?

It shouldn't, in that the frequencies used are not even remotely close. Should there be a problem due to stroing nearby transmissions hams are normally very happy to help track down and solve the problem. I know my ham activities, even with a high power linear amp, have never bothered my wife's enjoyment of satellite TV.

Ham's are also not allowed (its illegal) to have their equipment cause interference with the ability to receive television signals and will be glad to help you figure out any problems that might arise.

And if he is not happy to help you, then I'm sure the FCC would love to on your behalf.

My amateur radio activities have never interfered with my Directv reception, and a friend of mine has Dish Network. He has not had a problem either.

Like another poster said, most hams will work with neighbors if they report a problem.
