sat signal at 90 on old receiver but 771 error on new receiver? HELP

Hello, have slim line dish and dvr receivers installed in florida. thought I would bring one of the Standard def box to Toronto to watch directv. I set up dish with old SONY receiver to get signal strength on 101. Got it to 90..... when I transfer cable over to new Standard def box I get searching for signal 771.. Do these new receivers not work with old 18" round dish?\
any help is greatly appreciated..

you need to redo the satellite setup since you are going from a slimline to a 18"

setup
system setup
satellite
repeat satellite setup
