Hello; I am trying to set up a system for Sat Mex 6 KU2 the BVN channel on 12080H. I catch all the neighbouring satellites but not a blip on 113 west. My research is inconclusive regarding coverage area of the KU2 beam. Some maps indicate the coverage area is just short of Montreal, QC. and others indicate there is a signal. I tried with a 85cm dish Ku-LNBF and with a 100cm dish, two different locations. I am using a Birdog USB Plus Satellite Meter. Anybody got any idea or more information? Thanks.

Welcome to Satellite Guys! From what I've heard, Montreal is probably on the fringe. Definitely try with the 100 cm dish; don't even bother with the 85 cm one. I'm sure the folks in Canada will chime in with their reception reports in a bit 
A 'tip' that may be hindering success.
When you're aiming the dish, make only small ( minuscule) adjustments to it, then wait around 10 seconds.
A Quality reading may take the receiver that long for it to 'lock on'. These signals are weak.
Aim dish to one side, then move it across the 'line' that www.dishpointer.com 'paints', in 'steps', with the dish set to the indicated elevation.
If nothing, raise or lower the dish 1/2 degree and repeat. Once "Q" is shown, make even smaller adjustment to maximize.
Also there's 'skew'. Rule: if satellite is west of you, rotate the LNBF (Feed) indicated degrees counterclockwise when facing the dish(Satellite to your back) East of you it's clockwise.

No problems with BVN/Satmex6 here on the South Shore. I never got a beep out of 113w nor 116w until I upgraded LNBs (thanks again SATav).

Using what size dish? I've received it in Nova Scotia with a 1m dish, but only under good conditions. It wasn't so easy.
The question was referring to NL location (not in Post #1). Yes, 1.2m in NL would be necessary I think. Here too for reliability.
The joys of FTA... hours, days and weeks of hair pulling just for a station.

Just to add to the confusion here in southern Nova Scotia using a 1.2 meter dish Q&S are at maximum on a clear day, have yet to lose signal due to rain etc.
